Digital nomad residence in Argentina
Nómada Digital is Argentina's temporary migration status for foreign nationals who provide services remotely to employers or clients outside the country. The status is open only to nationals of states that do not need a tourist visa to enter Argentina.

Who can get it and how to apply
There is a single condition — remote work for a client abroad — but the application can be filed in two different ways.
Requirements for the applicant
- Citizenship of a country that does not need a tourist visa to enter Argentina
- Providing services remotely — over the internet, by means of communication and similar channels — for individuals or legal entities located outside Argentina
- Documentary evidence of the activity: a contract, a letter from the employer, a certificate of a submitted job application or proof of income or fees, plus at least one reference for the line of work
How to apply
- Before entering the country — online through the Tramitación de Ingreso Electrónico system (TIE 24H) on migraciones.gob.ar
- After entering the country — in person: in Buenos Aires by email to the Directorate of Migration, in the other provinces at the local migration office where you are
Documents to gather

- A valid passport (for nationals of the MERCOSUR countries — one of the documents recognised by the MERCOSUR agreement on travel documents)
- A certificate of no criminal record in Argentina from the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia — mandatory from the age of 16
- Proof of an address of residence in Argentina
- A statement with personal details and a description of the remote activity, including a short CV with work experience and level of education
- Documentary evidence of the activity: a contract, a letter of guarantee from the company, a certificate of a submitted job application or certificates of income or fees, and at least one reference for the line of work
- For documents issued abroad — consular legalisation or an apostille, and for documents not in Spanish — a sworn translator's translation
- For filing through the electronic TIE 24H system, a photograph of the applicant taken at the moment of filing is also needed (face on a white background, JPG format)
How the process runs
The procedure depends on where the applicant is at the time of filing.

Gather the documents
Prepare the passport, the certificate of no criminal record, proof of address and the documents evidencing the remote activity and income.

File the application
If you have not yet entered Argentina, file online through the TIE 24H system on migraciones.gob.ar. If you are already in the country, apply in person: in Buenos Aires by email to the Directorate of Migration, in the other provinces at the local migration office. As far as intermediaries go the trámite is free: no gestor is needed, and only the fees of the system itself are paid.

Receive the residence
up to 180 daysOnce the electronic application is approved, a notification with an entry authorisation arrives by email and is presented at border control. On an in-person application the Directorate of Migration issues temporary residence for up to 180 days.
Renewal and the grace period
The residence can be renewed for the same period — a further period of up to 180 days. Renewal requires evidence of the income earned during the current residence from the remote activity, and a certificate of no criminal record from the country of origin; the Argentine criminal record certificate does not need to be requested again, as it is already in the Radex system. The application is made in person: in Buenos Aires by email, in the other provinces at the migration service office.
