Frequently asked questions

What are the mortgage terms in the UAE?
Per the provider, rates start from 3.89% a year, the deposit is from 20% of the price and the term runs up to 25 years. The exact terms depend on the bank and your profile.
What kind of property can be mortgaged?
Only completed (resale) property. In some cases a mortgage can be obtained for the final payment on a property being handed over.
How much will be approved?
Banks cap the amount at seven times the borrower's annual income. On a salary of AED 15,000 that's about AED 2.52m. The bank also counts mandatory monthly outgoings — payments on other loans reduce the amount available.
How many mortgages can I take?
There's no limit on the number — what matters is that the income covers the payments on all of them.
