How the process runs
3–7 days- Do you need itYour passport must be on the K-ETA country list on the site. Those exempt from the authorisation do not apply.
- What to prepareYou will need a valid passport, a working email address, a photo of your face and a bank card.
- ApplicationFiling goes only through k-eta.go.kr or the K-ETA app. The form asks for passport details, the purpose of the trip and the address of your stay.
- Paying the feeThe fee is KRW 10,000 plus about 3% for the online payment. VISA, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, UnionPay and Alipay+ are accepted.
- DecisionApplications are handled in the order they arrive, usually within 72 hours. It cannot be expedited, and you must apply before boarding your flight or ship.
- ResultThe result is shown under «Check application result». If your dates or address change, you update the trip information.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a K-ETA authorisation valid?
Three years, or until your passport expires if that comes sooner. The authorisation covers several trips.
Who does not need a K-ETA?
Anyone aged 17 or under, or 65 and over, on the date of entry. Also transit passengers, crew members, holders of an APEC card, of diplomatic and service passports, of a UN passport, of a valid Korean visa or alien registration, and cruise passengers.
How long may I stay in Korea on a K-ETA?
The length of stay depends on your citizenship and is not the same as the validity of the authorisation. For Russia it is 60 days at a time and no more than 90 days in any 180. For Kazakhstan it is 30 days at a time and no more than 60 in any 180.
Does a K-ETA guarantee entry?
No. A K-ETA is not a visa but part of the visa-free conditions. The decision to admit you is taken by the immigration officer at the border.
What purposes does a K-ETA cover?
Short-term ones only: tourism, visiting relatives, an event or conference, a business trip. Commercial activity is not allowed.
