Colombia entry rules

Citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, the EU, the UK, the US, Canada, Türkiye, Serbia and Australia do not need to arrange a visa for Colombia in advance: the stay is up to 90 days. Citizens of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia and Israel need a visa from a consulate before the trip.

What is checked at the border

  • The original of a valid passport.
  • An onward or return ticket and funds for the trip; no amount is set.
  • Purpose of the trip: visa-free covers tourism and business meetings; any paid work needs a visa.
  • Check-Mig online pre-registration 72 to 1 hours before travel is free and optional, but speeds up the check.

How to extend your stay

You can extend online with Migración Colombia (PTP permit) at least 5 working days before your stay ends; the total cannot exceed 180 days per calendar year. The 2026 fee is COP 150,000 (≈ $37).

Overstay penalties

Overstaying is irregular stay. It leads to deportation with a re-entry ban of 6 months to 10 years; for visa-exempt nationals with special circumstances (family, medical, work, studies) deportation may be replaced by a fine of 26.31–210.50 UVT, about COP 1.38–11 million in 2026 (≈ $340–2,750).

How can I stay in Colombia longer?
A visa-free stay does not give the right to live in the country.
