How the process runs

Obtaining citizenship of Saint Lucia through investment in real estate consists of a sequence of stages, from the initial consultation to receiving the certificate of registration of citizenship.

  1. 1

Choosing a licensed agent and the consultation

    1–2 weeks

The applicant approaches an authorised agent of the Citizenship by Investment Board for advice, to clarify the terms of the programme and to choose an approved real estate project.

  2. 2

Choosing the project and confirming the investment

    2–4 weeks

The applicant chooses one of the open real estate projects and agrees the terms of the investment. The agent prepares the documentation confirming the source of the investment funds.

  3. 3

    Preparing the documents

    2–4 weeks

The applicant collects all the required documents in line with the checklist (SL1). All documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation. The licensed agent checks that the set of documents is complete.

  4. 4

Filing the application through the agent

    1 day

The licensed agent officially files the application with the Citizenship by Investment Board together with all the documents and pays the required fees (processing, due diligence, administrative fees).

  5. 5

    Interview and identity verification

    2–3 weeks

The Board interviews the main applicant and family members over 16. All dependants over 16 undergo due diligence.

  6. 6

Processing of the application and due diligence

    about 90 days

The Board thoroughly checks the applicant's information, the funds and the family members. Processing time is counted from the moment the application is officially accepted for consideration. In most cases the process is completed sooner than the stated period.

  7. 7

Approval and receipt of the certificate of registration

    1–2 days after approval

Once the Board approves the application, the applicant receives the certificate of registration of citizenship of Saint Lucia. The applicant must then complete the investment in the chosen real estate project.

  8. 8

    Obtaining the passport

    1–2 weeks

The applicant approaches Saint Lucia's Immigration Department (usually through the licensed agent) to obtain a Saint Lucian passport on the basis of the certificate of citizenship.

Details of the conditions and timelines for reissuing a passport are set out in the documents of Saint Lucia's Immigration Department.
