Vanuatu entry rules

Citizens of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Israel, the EU, the UK, the US, Canada, Serbia and Australia do not need to arrange a visa for Vanuatu in advance: the stay is up to 120 days. Citizens of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Türkiye apply for an e-visa online in advance.

What is checked at the border

  • A return ticket or confirmed onward travel to another country.
  • Money to support yourself and any dependants for the whole trip; no amount is set for the tourist visa.
  • The purpose must be tourism, leaving within 120 days; no work or business.
  • Under-18s need written consent from parents or legal guardians.

How to extend your stay

The tourist visa cannot be extended: you must leave before the 120 days run out. Changing status in-country is not allowed either.

A longer stay needs a long-term visa or a residence permit: employee residence visa (job with a Vanuatu business for at least 12 months), self-funded resident visa — suits retirees (certified income), foreign investor residence visa (VIPA certificate), leasehold holder residence visa, partner residence visa for spouses or partners of Vanuatu citizens, student visa (up to one year, for the length of the course).
