Setting up a sole trader in Armenia, end to end
Sole trader registration, a bank account, tax registration, a social card and Visa/Mastercard cards. Remote setup is for people who work online: IT, SMM and similar fields. If the business involves goods, the bank won't open the account remotely.

From 1 July 2025 turnover tax is closed to classifier groups 69 and 70 — legal and accounting services, head offices and management consulting — and to codes 78.2 and 78.3, the supply of personnel. A separate rule closes it to notaries, auditors and advocates. Those activities are left with the general system: 23% profit tax for a sole trader and 20% VAT. Marketing, advertising, engineering, architecture and medicine keep turnover tax — what is closed to them is the micro-business regime.

Sole trader or company in Armenia
The difference is the tax, and whether you work alone or with partners. A sole trader pays 10% on turnover from services as long as last year's turnover stayed under AMD 115m. A company pays 18% on profit and 20% VAT by default, and the turnover regime is not open to every activity. A sole trader with a bank account is registered in a day from $450, remotely if you work online. A company costs from $900. Its account is opened when the director visits Yerevan for 7–14 working days. Without the trip, it is opened through the company's account at a bank in another country. Neither grants residence.
