Tax
18% on profit (the general regime, plus 20% VAT) or turnover tax by activity: 10% for services and trade (5% before 2025), 1% with IT status in the hi-tech register — the regime is not open to every activity, which we check on the consultation
Choosing

Company or sole trader in Armenia

The difference is the tax, and whether you work alone or with partners. A sole trader pays 10% on turnover from services as long as last year's turnover stayed under AMD 115m. A company pays 18% on profit and 20% VAT by default, and the turnover regime is not open to every activity. A sole trader with a bank account is registered in a day from $450, remotely if you work online. A company costs from $900. Its account is opened when the director visits Yerevan for 7–14 working days. Without the trip, it is opened through the company's account at a bank in another country. Neither grants residence.

The difference is not the price — it is who each option suits. The “Best for” column is the business profile the option is built around.

  • 1A passport for the founder and the director — they can be the same person
  • 2Share capital — from AMD 10,000 (≈$28)
  • 3To open the account — the director visits Yerevan for 7–14 working days. Without the trip — the company's account at a bank in another country, other than Russia or Belarus
  • 4The director is on the payroll at AMD 104,000 (≈$290) a month or more before tax. This can start once the company begins trading
  • 5A work permit for the director unless they are a citizen of Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan. It takes 2–3 months, and the company starts trading only once it is issued

Frequently asked questions

Can the LLC's account be opened without coming to Yerevan?
Yes, if the company has an account at a bank in another country, other than Russia or Belarus. The Armenian bank reviews the application, and once it is approved, its fee is paid from that account. In the expert's experience, refusals are rare. If the bank refuses, the director's visit and trust management remain. If your case is unusual for the bank, the expert will advise you to come in person.
Who can use trust management?
Citizens of EAEU countries, if the director cannot come to Armenia. It is arranged after approval: the expert reviews the business and may refuse. It is paid monthly — for the management and the director's part-time salary; the amounts are in the package above.
How often can you take the profit out?
An LLC can distribute profit no more than once a quarter — that is what Armenia's law on LLCs allows. If you need money between payouts, the company can give a participant an interest-free loan.
