Turnover is evidenced every year

Anyone who came in through a business investment files a Revenue Service turnover certificate before the end of each year of the permit: at least the equivalent of USD 50,000 for the first year, 100,000 for the second and 120,000 each for the third, fourth and fifth. A property owner doesn't have to evidence turnover — what's expected is that the title stays in place for all five years.

No work permit is required

A foreigner without permanent residence works for a Georgian employer or runs their own business only with a separate right to work. The Law on Labour Migration expressly doesn't apply to a holder of valid investor residence — they're on the list of exceptions.

What we need from you

  • 1One of two grounds: investment in the Georgian economy from the equivalent of USD 300,000, or property with a market value above the same threshold (agricultural land doesn't count)
  • 2Evidence of the sum: for an investment — a certified auditor's opinion; for property — the title document and a report from an accredited valuer
  • 3A letter of recommendation — from a member of the Georgian government, or from three Georgian citizens authorised to represent a Georgian company
  • 4A passport and proof of lawful stay in Georgia on the filing date
  • 5A colour 3×4 photo in digital form and the receipt for the state fee
  • 6For a business investment — willingness to evidence turnover annually with a Revenue Service certificate for all five years

Frequently asked questions

How does investor residence differ from indefinite residence?
They're two different statuses, one after the other. Investor residence is issued for 5 years. At the end of it the holder applies for residence with no time limit: an investor shows turnover for the fifth year, a property owner shows they held the property for all five.
Does any property qualify, and how is its value evidenced?
Agricultural land doesn't count on these grounds. Market value is evidenced by a certified valuer from an accredited body — the figure in the sale contract or an estate agent's estimate isn't enough for the agency.
Will my spouse and children get residence?
Yes, in the same category. Each files their own application with a document evidencing the relationship and a copy of the investor's permit, and pays their own fee; for minors a legal representative files. The family may move to indefinite status together with the investor.
