Residence permit in Spain through language courses
A study stay for the length of the course, up to a year. The school must be a state one or accredited by Instituto Cervantes.
Under article 54.1 of the regulation, filing from inside the country is open only to those who already hold a residence permit. For someone who has arrived on a short-stay visa that route is closed — they file through the consulate. When filing from Spain the fee is €10.94, the case is considered for two months, and silence means refusal.
The regulation gives the right to bring in a spouse and children only to holders of a permit for higher education. On language courses each adult applies separately.
The application is accepted within three months of the term ending as well: the previous permit stays in force until a decision is made, but at the same time infringement proceedings are opened under article 52.b of Law 4/2000.

3–4 months- Step 1We enrol you at an Escuela Oficial de Idiomas or an Instituto Cervantes centre and pay the registration fee.
- Step 2We collect the documents: a passport valid for at least a year, proof of €600 for each month, insurance and the certificates.
- Step 3We file the type D visa application at the consulate for your place of residence — at least two months before the course starts.
