Remote worker visa in Barbados
A guest status for those who work for a foreign employer or clients while living on the island. The stamp is issued by the immigration authorities under the remote employment legislation. Foreign professionals and members of the Barbadian diaspora whose occupation allows remote work may apply. While the status is valid, no Barbados income tax is paid on foreign income, and taking a job with a local employer is not allowed. Those the authorities consider a security threat are refused.

When this programme will not suit you
You are looking for work in Barbados itself
An ordinary work permit, arranged through a Barbadian employer with the Immigration Department
Your income does not reach the threshold set by law, or comes from Barbadian clients
A conventional work permit on the invitation of a local employer
You need permanent residence or citizenship straight away, rather than a guest status for a year
Separate applications to the Immigration Department: Form A1 for permanent residence, or an application under the Barbados Citizenship Act (CAP. 186)
There are grounds to consider the applicant a threat to national security
The stamp is unavailable in any form — the immigration authorities refuse regardless of the other conditions

Timelines and rights
Work
Permits remote work for a foreign employer. Refusals are issued to those seeking employment in Barbados itself
Who you can bring with you

Renewal and the grace period
The Act allows a fresh application for the stamp after the year of validity has expired — there is no separate procedure for «extending» the current status without a new application. Separately from individual applications, the Cabinet extended the intake for the programme as a whole: by a decision of 26 October 2023 the Welcome Stamp visa was extended to 31 December 2026. The exact fee for reapplying is not published on the verified official pages.
