Dependant's Pass DP in Singapore

The Dependant's Pass allows the legally married spouse and children of an Employment Pass or S Pass holder to move to Singapore and live with them. The application is filed by the sponsoring employer, and the dependant may study or take up work under a separate authorisation if they wish.

Who can obtain the pass

Sponsor — a work pass holder

Documents to gather

The basic list; MOM may request additional documents while assessing the application.

  • A copy of the personal particulars page of the dependant's passport (for a child included in a parent's passport — also the parent's passport page)
  • Marriage certificate — for a spouse
  • Birth certificate showing the parents' names — for children
  • Adoption papers — for adopted children
  • A vaccination record from the Communicable Diseases Agency — for foreign children under 12 on a new application
  • A translation of documents not drawn up in English

How the process runs

The application is filed by the sponsoring employer or an appointed employment agency through the myMOM Portal.

    Filing the application

    The employer or employment agency files the application online and pays S$105 for each dependant.

    Assessment of the application

    about 3 weeks for dependants of Employment Pass and S Pass holders; up to 6 weeks for dependants of PEP, EntrePass and EP (Sponsorship) holders

    MOM checks the documents and the eligibility criteria and decides on the application.

    In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter

    valid for 6 months for EP dependants, 2 months for S Pass dependants

    Once approved, a letter is issued with a pre-approved single-entry visa for Singapore.

    Registration and issuance of the pass

    the card arrives at the address given 5 working days after registration or document verification

    After arriving in Singapore the dependant completes registration (a medical examination or a medical declaration), pays S$225 for the pass and, where required, S$30 for a Multiple Journey Visa.

Renewal and the grace period

A renewal may be filed no later than 6 months before the pass expires (3 months for dependants of EP (Sponsorship) and EntrePass holders). Through the EP eService an application is assessed in about 3 weeks, or up to 8 weeks for dependants of EP (Sponsorship) and EntrePass holders. Renewal is not guaranteed and is assessed against the criteria in force at the time of filing. Issuing the new pass costs S$225, plus S$30 for a Multiple Journey Visa where required.
