Visa for tech leaders in Singapore

The Tech.Pass is a visa for established technology leaders — entrepreneurs, business leaders and technical experts — allowing them to run their own business, work as an employee at several companies, consult, mentor and teach in Singapore at the same time, without changing status for each role. The scheme is being replaced by a new ONE Pass (AI and Tech) track, so Tech.Pass applications are closing.

  5. 5

    Assessment of the application

    about 8 weeks

The EDB assesses the application in about 8 weeks from the point at which all documents are in order; if further information is requested the period is longer.

  6. 6

    Receiving the pass

    within 6 months of approval

Once approved, the applicant receives an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter and must collect the pass in person at the MOM Employment Pass Services Centre within 6 months; the payments are S$225 for the pass and, if needed, S$30 for the Multiple Journey Visa. No extension of the IPA period is available.

Frequently asked questions about Visa for tech leaders

Who can obtain a Tech.Pass?
Two things are needed at once: a last drawn fixed salary over the year of at least S$22,500 a month, and at least 5 cumulative years in a leading role at a technology company valued at US$500 million or more (or with funding raised of US$30 million or more), or at a technology venture fund with at least US$500 million of assets under management.
How much does a Tech.Pass cost?
The application costs S$105 per applicant. On approval, issuing the pass itself costs S$225, plus S$30 for the Multiple Journey Visa if one is needed. The fees are not refunded.
How long does assessment of the application take?
Assessment takes about 8 weeks from the point at which all documents are in order. After approval you must collect the pass in person at the MOM Employment Pass Services Centre within 6 months of the in-principle approval (IPA); no extension of that period is available.
Can you relocate with your family on a Tech.Pass?
Yes. The holder may bring a legally married spouse and unmarried children under 21 on a Dependant's Pass, and a common-law spouse, disabled children aged 21 and above, stepchildren under 21 and parents on a Long-Term Visit Pass. Both passes are issued by MOM.
What happens to the Tech.Pass after January 2027?
From 28 January 2027 the EDB stops accepting new Tech.Pass applications and renewal applications; the final deadline for filing is 27 January 2027, 23:59. Existing holders keep their pass until it expires. The scheme will be replaced by a new ONE Pass (AI and Tech) track.
How does the Tech.Pass differ from the ONE Pass?
The Tech.Pass is valid for 2 years with the option of a single 2-year renewal and is aimed specifically at the technology sector. The ONE Pass is a personalised pass for top professionals across industries (not only technology), valid for 5 years and renewable repeatedly for 5 years at a time where the renewal criteria are met.
