Indonesia (Bali) entry rules

Citizens of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, the EU, the UK, the US, Canada, Türkiye, Serbia and Australia do not need to arrange a visa for Indonesia (Bali) in advance: the stay is up to 30 days. Citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Moldova apply for an e-visa online in advance. Citizens of Israel need a visa from a consulate before the trip.

What is checked at the border

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
  • A return or onward ticket — the immigration officer may ask to see it.
  • All travellers must submit the electronic arrival card (All Indonesia) within 3 days before arrival.
  • Bali charges a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 (≈ $9) per person, once per trip; it is easiest to pay online at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before departure, otherwise at the airport counter.

How to extend your stay

A visa on arrival (including e-VoA) can be extended once, up to 60 days in total: e-VoA online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, a paper visa at an immigration office. The 30-day visa-free stay cannot be extended; the C1 tourist e-visa can be extended up to 180 days.

Overstay penalties

Overstaying by less than 60 days costs IDR 1,000,000 (≈ $60) per day; more than 60 days, or refusing to pay, means deportation and an entry ban.

How can I stay in Indonesia (Bali) longer?
A visa-free stay does not give the right to live in the country. A longer stay needs a long-term visa or a residence permit: work visa (E23), investor visa (E28A), family visa (E31), second Home visa (E33), second Home visa for seniors, 1 year (E33F), remote worker visa (E33G) — for working for a foreign company.
