Golden Visa in Indonesia (Bali)
A long-term permission to stay for foreign nationals who invest substantial sums in the Indonesian economy. The residence permit is issued on entry, and there is no need to arrange it separately at an immigration office. The visa suits someone setting up a company, a director or commissioner of a corporate investor, and someone who simply places capital in local assets. The holder manages their investments, runs the enterprise they have set up and brings close relatives with them.

Who can obtain the golden visa
Indonesia divides investors into three categories — from the founder of their own company to someone who only places capital in local assets.
An investor founding a company
- Sets up and owns a company in Indonesia
- Invests from 2,500,000 dollars for a 5-year permission or from 5,000,000 dollars for a 10-year permission
- May sit on the management of their own company and receive remuneration for this
A director or commissioner of a corporate investor
- Sits on the board of directors or the supervisory board of a company investing in Indonesia
- Invests from 25,000,000 dollars for a 5-year permission or from 50,000,000 dollars for a 10-year permission
- Is not required to be the sole owner of the company
An investor not setting up a company
- Does not set up or head a company in Indonesia
- Places from 350,000 dollars for a 5-year permission or from 700,000 dollars for a 10-year permission in government bonds, shares in public companies or on deposit
- Suits someone who only wants to invest without running a business

Timelines and rights
Work
The visa permits managing the investment, running one's own company and receiving remuneration for this. Any occupation that does not match the permission to stay is prohibited.
Who you can bring with you
The investor may move to Indonesia together with close relatives.
A spouse and minor children
Trips, renewal and the grace period
The ITAS and the re-entry permit are issued automatically on entry — there is no need to visit an immigration office. Moving to permanent residence requires 3 consecutive years in the country.
The permission may be extended before it expires and converted into another type of permission to stay. The temporary residence permit of a golden visa holder may be converted into an indefinite one after three years of continuous residence in Indonesia.
What comes next: permanent residence and citizenship
Route to permanent residence
Through ITAP. The investor's ITAS is changed to a permanent ITAP once they have lived in Indonesia for 3 consecutive years.
Route to citizenship
The citizenship application is filed after living in Indonesia for 5 consecutive years or 10 years with breaks.
