Permanent residence permit in Indonesia (Bali)
A permission for permanent residence granted to foreign nationals who fall into certain categories or meet certain conditions. It may be issued directly without any prior status or through conversion from a temporary permission. It is valid for a set period and is subject to extension. It is issued in physical form and sent in digital form at the same time.

The main routes to obtaining it
The permission is available through two main routes, depending on the applicant's status.
Direct grant with no prior status
- Children of former dual nationals who have chosen foreign citizenship
- Children born in Indonesia to parents holding the permission
- People who lost Indonesian citizenship while in the country
Conversion from a temporary permission
- Workers, investors and clergy after continuous residence
- Spouses of citizens where the marriage has lasted the set period
- Children of citizens and family members on family reunification

Documents to gather
The exact list depends on the applicant's category and circumstances.
- A valid passport
- Confirmation of the online registration from the system
- An application and a letter of guarantee from the sponsor
- A power of attorney if filing through a representative
- The guarantor's electronic identity card (E-KTP)
- The card for the current permission (if there is one)
- A certificate of the place of residence
- A statement on integration
- Documents by category (marriage certificates, recommendations from ministries and so on)
How the process runs
The process of filing the application and obtaining the permission consists of several stages.

Preparing and registering the documents
Depends on the applicantCollect all the documents required for your category. Register in the online application system at izintinggal-online.imigrasi.go.id or submit the documents in person at an immigration office.

Paying the state charge
After notification from the systemReceive the notification with the amount of the charge and the payment details. Make the payment in accordance with the instructions.

Examination and approval
A maximum of three working days after paymentThe immigration office checks the documents and takes a decision. A digital copy of the permission is sent by email to the applicant and to the guarantor.

Collecting the physical KITAP card
No earlier than fifteen working days after issueVisit the immigration office to collect the physical card for the permission. The card may be collected at any time after approval.

Renewal and the grace period
The permanent permission is subject to extension. The application may be filed no earlier than three months before expiry or on the day the permission ends. The extension is arranged at the immigration office for the place of residence or through the online system. On extension the state charge has to be paid at the set rate.

Route to permanent residence
The KITAP card is issued in physical form (collected at an immigration office no earlier than 15 working days after issue) and in digital form — to the email address of the foreign national and of the guarantor.
