Visa for the elderly in Indonesia (Bali)

The programme is intended for foreign nationals of retirement age who wish to live in Indonesia for a limited period. The visa is issued with the right to stay for one year and the possibility of extension through the online system. The applicant has to confirm their financial standing and have a sponsor registered in the electronic visa system. While staying on this visa, work and employment outside the terms of the visa are prohibited.

Work

Working is not allowed. Any occupation that does not match the permission to stay is prohibited.

Trips, renewal and the grace period

The permission is granted for 1 year from the day of entry. It is extended online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

The visa may be extended online through the portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id without a further visit to the consulate. The extension is started by the sponsor in their personal account. The limited permission to stay is extended for up to a year.

Through ITAP. The elderly tourist's ITAS is changed to a permanent ITAP after 3 consecutive years in Indonesia.

Route to citizenship

The citizenship application is filed after living in Indonesia for 5 consecutive years or 10 years with breaks.

Frequently asked questions about Visa for the elderly

For how long is the visa issued?

The visa is valid for 90 days from the moment of issue. The permission to stay is granted for up to 1 year, counting from the day of arrival. Once that period has run, the visa may be extended.

Is working permitted on this visa?

No, work that does not match the terms of the visa is prohibited. The visa is intended solely for staying in the country and gives no right to take employment in Indonesia.

What financial requirements apply?

The applicant must have a monthly income or pension of at least 3,000 US dollars and confirm, through bank statements, that at least 2,000 US dollars have been held in a bank account over the last 3 months.

How long does the application take to process?

Processing takes 5 working days from receipt of the payment. That time is needed to check the documents and the financial figures and to complete the security procedures.

Is a sponsor a compulsory requirement?

Yes, a sponsor is compulsory. The sponsor must have an account on the electronic visa portal (evisa.imigrasi.go.id) and file the application on the applicant's behalf through that portal.
