The Meken visa of category M is an entry document for ethnic Kyrgyz and for people born in the territory of Kyrgyzstan or the Kirghiz SSR who wish to visit the country or to return to it. Documents to gather
Under the Instruction on the procedure for issuing visas of the Kyrgyz Republic and the rules of the consular section, the following are needed for a Meken visa:
- A completed application form
- A photograph measuring 2×2 inches
- A copy of a valid identity document, valid for at least a further 6 months after the visa expires
- A request from the applicant for the visa to be issued
- Supporting documents on ethnic belonging to the Kyrgyz or on birth in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic or of the Kirghiz SSR: a notarised birth certificate, an extract from the civil register, an archive document or a national passport of a foreign state
- A document on the examination of an application for a residence permit or for admission to citizenship — if the applicant is already in Kyrgyzstan
- The paid consular fee

The set of documents is filed with the Consular Service Department, a permanent representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a foreign mission (an embassy or a consulate) of the Kyrgyz Republic.
