Second home visa for the elderly in Indonesia (Bali)

The programme is intended for foreign nationals of retirement age who wish to live in Indonesia for a long period without needing a sponsor. The visa allows the holder to travel, shop and visit family and friends, and — on notifying the immigration office — to work and study. The initial permission is issued for up to five years and may be extended, for a total of no more than ten years. All the filing procedures are carried out online through the official platform, with no visit to a consulate. The financial guarantee is held in an account with a state bank throughout the period of residence.

Frequently asked questions about Second home visa for the elderly

What is the immigration guarantee and how does it work?
The immigration guarantee is money (at least 50,000 US dollars) that you hold in an account with an Indonesian state bank. Those funds serve as a guarantee of your financial stability in the country and must remain in the account throughout the period of your stay on the visa. The money remains your property and does not pass to the state.
Can you work on this visa?
Yes, but subject to a condition. If you want to carry out any work or professional activity, you have to notify the immigration office that issued your visa. Tourist activity and visiting family and friends are permitted without notification.
How long does the application take to process?
Once the state fee has been paid, the application is processed in four working days. After approval you may travel to Indonesia, and when you pass through passport control you will be issued the limited permission to stay.
Can the visa be extended, and for how long?
Yes, the visa is extended online. The initial permission is issued for up to five years and may be extended further. The total period of stay on this visa cannot exceed ten years. To extend it, the immigration guarantee has to be maintained in the account.
